Fall 2014 Update
An update is long overdue. It is September 2014 and we are experiencing a late summer heat wave here in New York City. Yesterday was the hottest day of the year so far. The past year has been an interesting one with interesting projects in Washington DC, Chicago, New York, Toronto and Stratford, Ontario. I have been doing more orchestrations, which I love. Last year I did the orchestrations for Ted Dykstra’s new musical Evangeline, produced by the Charlottetown Festival, writing for 14 musicians. In January a cast recording was done in Toronto, produced by Bob Foster and Ted. We bumped the orchestra up to 19 for the recording. There are a few tracks here on this web site and the full CD is available on itunes. I also arranged, produced and performed on Chilina Kennedy’s debut CD ‘What You Find In A Bottle’. All original songs by Chilina, with a fine group of musician, recorded at Inception Sound in Toronto. Not officially released yet but I will post some tracks on this site.
Chicago continues to be good to me. A stellar Chicago Shakespeare Theater production of Gypsy starring the incomparable Louis Pitre, directed by Gary Griffin kicked off 2014 for me. I did musical direction and new orchestrations for 14 players and was honored with the Bob Tilles Music Chair Award, and a Jeff nomination for musical direction. I am returning to Chicago Shakes in 2015 to do musical direction for Paul Gordon’s ‘Sense and Sensibility’ adapted from the Jane Austin novel. Paul was the composer/lyricist of the lovely score for Jane Eyre which appeared on Broadway a few years back. Sense and Sensibility will be directed by Chicago Shakes artistic director Barbara Gaines.
To be continued…soon…
